I will defend it against job-killer legislation, excessive taxation and a sub-standard education system.

Time to tackle the big issues your state legislators have refused to address head-on! Time to hold your elected leaders accountable to your priorities and most importantly, your vote! Time for new leadership in Sacramento, focused on bringing jobs back to the state and bringing education back to where it belongs – among the best in the nation!

South Bay unemployment has nearly tripled in the three years since the last local State Senate election in 2006, from 4.5% to over 11.5%! Sacramento’s answer is to raise the cost of doing business with higher worker’s compensation costs, higher sales taxes and higher income taxes for those that provide the most jobs for the rest of us. We need to send a message to Sacramento that their burdensome taxes and excessive regulations are killing the South Bay Dream! I will carry that message every day as your next State Senator!

Our state legislators claim to care about the education of our children. Why, then, do they accept an education system ranked 48^th in the nation in performance that spends the 4^th highest amount per pupil in the nation? With barely 40% of California’s education budget going to classrooms or to teacher salaries, we need legislators willing to attack the education pork-spending, including excessive administrator salaries & expenses. States like New York and Massachusetts dedicate over 80% of their education budgets to the classroom & its teachers. No wonder their systems consistently perform among the top ten states year after year. So who do your state legislators really care about? Mostly the education lobbyists & the special interests. As a parent of two beautiful young daughters, I will fight for our education system to return to among the best in the nation, just as it was when I went to school in the South Bay!

While we have many other issues your state government should address, ignoring these two highest priorities is both an insult to us and our children’s future. Sacramento cannot fix our state’s economy or its education system if it’s unwilling to change business as usual.

As your next State Senator, I will dig in, identify the root causes, and bring forward the necessary solutions to fix what is broken!
