Citizens for California Reform (CCR) has awarded their endorsement to South Bay State Senate candidate John Stammreich, the Republican nominee challenging incumbent Senator Jenny Oropeza (D – Long Beach).

CCR is a non-partisan public interest advocacy organization committed to advancing more limited and transparent government. With a streamlined government, CCR seeks to establish high-quality, cost-efficient public services; increase personal responsibilities and civic involvement; protect individual liberties and freedom of speech; and decrease the tax burden on California residents and businesses.

By meeting these objectives, CCR ultimately hopes to return California to a responsive, citizen-informed and citizen-based government. At the core of this reform is returning the state’s legislature to a part-time status.

“We have seen John Stammreich in action and know he will continue to be an active driver in reforming California. Californians need a leader to bring about the changes necessary to improve the political and economic climate in our state. John Stammreich is just that leader,” said Gabriella Holt, CCR’s President and CEO.

Stammreich responded, “Not only is it an honor to be endorsed by one of the leading organizations truly trying to bring much-needed reforms to California, it is a responsibility I accept to continue pushing the reforms that will be hard pills to swallow for members of both parties in Sacramento. But it’s time to make California successful again, and watching other large states with part-time legislatures like Florida and Texas continue to lure jobs, businesses and talented professionals away from California is unacceptable. It’s time to fight for all Californians and remove ineffective leadership. This includes the position of ‘Career Politician’. When our politicians are more connected to the state economy due to their primary employment being in the private sector, Californians will see a smarter, more business-friendly Legislature.”
